Susan Dacosta ’20 recounts her journey from the Gambia to Ashesi When Susan DaCosta completed her undergraduate program at Ashesi this year, she accomplished what had barely been a dream years ago. The last of her parent’s six children, from a remote town in the Gambia, financial constraints had made college seem unlikely. However, having been a standout student, Susan was encouraged by her counselors and parents to consider applying to universities nonetheless, with hopes that she could receive a generous scholarship offer. They were right. Read story. |

After their first visit to Ashesi’s campus, Sarah and Kwame Akuffo were convinced they had found the ideal university for their kids. “The environment was so serene, and I was amazed that there is an institution of this caliber in Ghana,” confessed Sarah, whose son and daughter eventually became students at Ashesi. “From that moment, we started working towards Ashesi; putting money away, and helping our kids prepare both socially and academically.” Read story. |

Ashesi's Growth is Powered by You: Rosalind Reaves is an American educator on a lifetime mission: helping the world one student at a time. After being introduced to Ashesi by a friend, she was inspired to support scholarships. "It's about paying it forward, because Africa has given so much to the world and to me personally. It's also about being part of a long and proud tradition of African American investment in Africa." Read story. |

"I was inspired to apply to Ashesi mainly because it stood out as a place to rediscover myself," says first-year student Frimpomaa, who joined other colleagues in her class for their matriculation ceremony this afternoon. |
| “Ashesi for me is a place to shift into a more practical space. Taking a gap year made me realise this even more. I wanted a college that focuses on practical learning, and that was my motivation to apply to Ashesi," said Aaron from St. Augustines College. |

Exciting to hear Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Education highlight Ashesi’s career preparation as a higher eduction model. Through the @Edu_Collaborate, and thanks to partners like @MastercardFdn, we hope to work with other universities to increase graduate success across Africa. |
| This week, we handed over a site on campus for construction to start on a new set of student dorms at Ashesi. The project will be one of our largest yet, and will enable us provide on-campus residential experiences to more students. |
