Stephen Sackur, the presenter of HARDtalk, BBC World News’ flagship current affairs interview programme, has been a journalist with BBC News since 1986.
He has interviewed presidents, prime ministers and leading personalities from all over the world over the past decade.
In November 2010, Stephen was awarded the “International TV Personality of the Year Award” by the Association of International Broadcasters.
Before taking over HARDtalk, Stephen was based in Brussels for three years as the BBC’s Europe Correspondent. He travelled across Europe to cover major stories around the continent, including the accession of the former communist east European states in 2004.
Prior to this, Stephen was the BBC’s Washington Correspondent from July 1997. With a keen interest in politics, he has interviewed Presidents George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton; covered the 2000 US Presidential Elections, the ‘Lewinsky scandal’ and the Clinton impeachment trial.
Stephen has also been the BBC Middle East Correspondent in both Cairo (from 1992 to 1995) and Jerusalem (from 1995 to 1997).
Stephen was educated at Cambridge University (BA History, Hons, 1982-5 and Harvard University (Henry Fellowship 1985-6).

David Nabarro is the co-director of the Imperial College Institute of Global Health Innovation at the Imperial College London and supports systems leadership for sustainable development through his Switzerland-based social enterprise 4SD. In March 2020, David was appointed as WHO Special Envoy on COVID-19 by the WHO Director General.
He secured his medical qualification in 1974 and has worked in more than 50 countries – in communities and hospitals, governments, civil society, universities, and in United Nations (UN) programs. David worked for the British government in the 1990s as head of health and population and director for human development in the UK Department for International Development. From 1999 to 2017 he held leadership roles in the UN system on disease outbreaks and health issues, food insecurity and nutrition, climate change, and sustainable development. In October 2018, David received the World Food Prize together with Lawrence Haddad for their leadership in raising the profile and building coalitions for action for better nutrition across the Sustainable Development Goals.

Peter Sands has been the Executive Director of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria since March 2018.
Since June 2015 Peter has been a Research Fellow at Harvard University, dividing his time between the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School and the Harvard Global Health Institute.
Peter was Group CEO of Standard Chartered PLC from November 2006 to June 2015, having joined the Board of Standard Chartered as Group CFO in May 2002.
Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Peter was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Co.
Peter has served on various boards and commissions, including the UK’s Department of Health, the World Economic Forum and the International Advisory Board of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Peter graduated from Oxford University with a First Class degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He also received a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he was a Harkness Fellow. Peter, who grew up in Singapore and Malaysia, is married to author Betsy Tobin and has four children.

QATAR’S SUPREME COMMITTEE FOR DELIVERY AND LEGACY
H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi is the Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the organisation responsible for coordinating amongst public and private entities to ensure that infrastructure and development projects are delivered in readiness for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
His appointment in March 2011 as Secretary General followed on from his role as Chief Executive Officer in Qatar’s 2022 Bid Committee, in which he worked closely with Bid Chairman, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, promoting Qatar’s ultimately successful attempt to bring the FIFA World Cup™ to the Middle East for the first time.
In addition to this, he also serves as the Chairman of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC, – the joint venture between FIFA and the SC responsible for organising and staging the event. In 2013, he was appointed to FIFA’s World Cup Organising Committee (the committee responsible for all matters pertaining to the FIFA World Cup) as Special Advisor.
A lawyer by profession, Al Thawadi previously served as General Counsel for Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Qatar Holding, entities founded by the State of Qatar in 2005 to strengthen the national economy by diversifying into new asset classes and growing Qatar’s long-term strategic investments.
He was appointed to Qatar Investment Authority’s board of directors by H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in July 2020.
Al Thawadi also holds board positions on the National Tourism Council, at Katara Hospitality, Qatari Diar, and Qatar International Islamic Bank.
He is a Joint Advisory Board member at Northwestern University Qatar and an Advisory Council member at Hamad bin Khalifa University (College of Humanities and Social Sciences) and Qatar University (College of Business and Economics).

ACTOR, PRODUCER, DIRECTOR AND PHILANTHROPIST
EVA LONGORIA FOUNDATION
Eva Longoria is an award-winning actor, producer, director, entrepreneur, philanthropist and “Desperate Housewives” alumna.
She founded the Eva Longoria Foundation in 2012 to help Latinas build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship. Eva has spoken about the Foundation’s work before the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, International Labor Organization, at Google Headquarters, the Clinton Global Initiative, Women in the World Texas and the National Council de la Raza, among others. She is also co-founder of Eva’s Heroes, which enriches the lives of those with special needs, and is the National Spokesperson for Padres Contra el Cancer, a non-profit committed to improving the lives of children with cancer.
A pillar in the Latino community, Eva sits on the boards of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund (MALDEF) and La Plaza de Cultura y Artes. She was named “Philanthropist of the Year” by The Hollywood Reporter and honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at Variety’s annual Power of Women Luncheon.
In the leadup to the 2012 election, Eva and Henry Muñoz founded the Futuro Fund and the Latino Victory Project, to ensure that Latino voices in critical states and nationwide were being heard. She served as National Co-Chair for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign and as a Co-Chair of the 2013 Presidential Inauguration Committee. Eva spoke at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. She returned to host a virtual Democratic National Convention in September 2020.
Her entrepreneurial activities include serving as a Global Brand Ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, CEO of UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, fragrances EVA and EVAmour, a New York Times-bestselling cookbook Eva’s Kitchen, and a home collection line with JCPenney. Eva received her master’s degree in Chicano Studies from California State University, Northridge, writing her thesis on “Success STEMS from Diversity: The Value of Latinas in STEM Careers.
DR. TOM CATENA

AURORA HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVE
Tom Catena, MD is a surgeon, veteran, catholic missionary, globally-recognized humanitarian and inaugural Chair of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative.
In his role as Aurora Chair, Dr. Catena engages with politicians, humanitarian organizations, practitioners, and everyday people around the world to spread the message of Gratitude in Action.
Founder of the Mother Mercy Hospital in Sudan’s war-ravaged Nuba mountains, Dr. Catena has dedicated the last decade of his life to providing medical care as the only surgeon permanently based in a region the size of Austria. Despite an effective embargo on humanitarian supplies, the withdrawal of other NGOs, and the constant threat of air raids on the hospital, Dr. Catena provides treatment for more than 750,000 people suffering ailments from malnourishment and typhoid, to cancer and war wounds.
A graduate of Duke University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Catena began his medical career in the United States Navy, serving four years as a flight surgeon. Following his residency, Dr. Catena spent six years as a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, before moving to Sudan to cofound the hospital he still leads.
In 2017, Dr. Catena was awarded the $1.1 million Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, which honors unsung heroes working to preserve human life at great personal risk.
He is the recipient of Honorary Doctorates from Brown University (2016) and Yerevan State Medical University (2017) and was named one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine in 2015. He was appointed Aurora’s inaugural Chair in December 2018, a position he maintains in parallel with his ongoing responsibilities as Medical Director of the Mother Mercy Hospital in Sudan.
MORGAN FREEMAN
ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING ACTOR AND PHILANTHROPIST
Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman is one of the most recognizable figures in American cinema. His works are among the most critically and commercially successful films of all time. Freeman ranks within the Top 10 worldwide top-grossing actors of all time.
In 2005 Freeman won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role in “Million Dollar Baby.” Freeman also received an Academy Award nomination in 1987 for Best Supporting Actor for “Street Smart,” in 1994 for Best Actor for “The Shawshank Redemption,” and in 2010 for Best Actor for “Invictus.” He also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in “Driving Miss Daisy” in 1990. In 2010, Freeman won the National Board of Review Award for Best Actor for his performance as Nelson Mandela in “Invictus.”
The veteran actor was honored with the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2018, recognizing his career achievement and humanitarian accomplishments.
Freeman is the force behind several humanitarian and charitable initiatives. He established the Tallahatchie River Foundation in his home state of Mississippi with his daughter, Morgana Freeman, in order to promote quality early childhood education for underserved youth. In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, he formed the Grenada Relief Fund to help those affected. Since renamed PLANIT NOW, the organization continues to provide resources needed to prepare for natural disasters.
In his spare time, Freeman loves the freedom of both sea and sky; he is a long-time sailor and has earned a private pilot’s license. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Earth Biofuels, a company whose mission is to promote the use of clean-burning fuels. He also supports Artists for a New South Africa and the Campaign for Female Education.
Freeman has been named on the Forbes “Most Trustworthy Celebrities” list each of the five times it has been published since 2006.
Freeman will be seen next in film “The Comeback Trail” alongside Robert De Niro and Tommy Lee Jones, set for a December 2020 release. Lionsgate’s “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.”
